Political economy is the science that studies relations of production, the corresponding modes of production, and their underlying laws; it is a foundational discipline within theoretical economics and indeed the entire field of economics. The foundation of political economy is Marxist political economy. Only Marxist political economy has scientifically revealed the laws governing the economic movements of human society, particularly capitalist society, embodying the essential characteristic of the unity of scientific rigor and revolutionary spirit. Since the birth of Marxist political economy, many Western scholars have also engaged in the study of Marxist political economy and Capital. Through more than a century of development and deepening, transformation and differentiation, crisis and renewal, it has provided numerous theoretical tools of enduring influence for the critique of capitalism. Studying foreign Marxist analyses of the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics, as well as the characteristics, changes, and trends of contemporary capitalism, not only provides valuable references for the development of political economy in China but also holds significant importance for tracking research trends in the international academic community, strengthening exchanges and mutual learning among Chinese and foreign academics, and enhancing the international influence and discourse leadership of Chinese academic research.
